Dr. Pamela Gurley is a trailblazer in literacy advocacy, empowerment, and social transformation. As the Founder/CEO of Clark and Hill Enterprise, IAMDRPGURLEY, and the Brown Girl and Brown Boy Literacy Foundation, she has dedicated her career to inspiring individuals—especially young readers and writers—to embrace the power of literacy and self-expression done.

Her Story

Dr. Pamela Gurley

With a remarkable 26-year career spanning leadership, budget management, and organizational and strategic development, Dr. Gurley served 14 years as a civil servant with the United States Federal Government, holding pivotal roles across the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; Department of the Army; Department of Defense; Department of State; and the Merit Systems Protection Board. Her work extended across seven countries on four continents, providing her with a global perspective that continues to shape her entrepreneurial ventures and reach. In November 2020, she courageously transitioned from her federal career as a GS-15 to pursue her entrepreneurial journey full-time.

Dr. Gurley’s literary accomplishments are as impressive as her professional career. She debuted her first book, I Am Not A Stereotype: I Am H.E.R., in November 2019, igniting a passion for writing that led to the release of her Amazon Best Seller, Bl@ck Girl Activist, in March 2021. She further expanded her impact through her Brown Girl and Brown Boy multilingual children’s book series, releasing the first three sets in June 2021 and growing the series to 22 books, with a new release coming in 2025.

A retired United States Army Veteran, Dr. Gurley is a lifelong learner and advocate for education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master’s in Health Services Administration, and a Doctorate in Management with a concentration in Organizational Development and Change.

Dr. Pamela Gurley

Dr. Gurley’s 26-year career includes working as a civil servant for 14 years for the United States Federal Government across the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Department of the Army, Department of Defense, Department of State, and the Merit Systems Protection Board. Dr. Gurley’s budget, management, and leadership experience extend domestically and internationally across several continents and countries. She resigned from her federal career as a GS-15 to become a full-time entrepreneur on November 7, 2020.
Writing Career

In November 2019, Dr. Gurley released her first book, “I Am Not A Stereotype: I Am H.E.R.,” and it lit a different path in her love of writing. In March 2021, she released her second book, Bl@ck Girl Activist, becoming an Amazon Best Seller; and on June 3, 2021, she released the first three sets of books in her Brown Girl and Brown Boy multilingual children’s books series. She has since published five additional titles totaling 18 books. She has also been a part of three anthologies – one with Dr. Gurley as a Visionary Author.
